hasbro children's hospital

The Hasbro Children’s Hospital is the pediatric division of Rhode Island Hospital, which is the principal teaching hospital of the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. Opening its doors in 1994, the hospital was named after its primary founding donors, the Hasbro Toy Company.  The hospital is housed in a 7-story building containing 87 beds. It is the only Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center in the state with an average of 6,500 inpatient and 70,000 outpatient visits in a year. Hasbro Children’s Hospital is well known for its 16 bed pediatric intensive care unit as well as the Pediatric Heart Center, Children’s Neurodevelopment Center and refugee health clinic. The Hasbro Partial Hospital Program is unique in the region as it is the only day treatment program in New England that treats children with both medical and emotional issues. The Pediatric Primary Care Clinic and other specialty clinics are housed on the lower level of the hospital.

Hasbro Children’s Hospital Pediatric Primary Care is a large group practice providing primary care for newborns through adolescence and young adulthood for about 22,000 visits per year.  The team is composed of dedicated physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, medical assistants and secretaries. The clinic serves a diverse patient population including primarily low-income families; about 90% of the patients have Medicaid insurance.  The practice includes special clinics such as Refugee Clinic, Teen Tot Clinic, Children with Special Health Care Needs and a Fostering Health Clinic.  The clinic also partners with programs such as Connect for Health, Medical Legal Partnership and Reach Out and Read to provide valuable resources to our families.

Hasbro is currently undergoing major state-of-the-art enhancements designed to renovate the PICU, Emergency Department, Hematology/Oncology infusion suites, inpatient and clinic exam rooms, as well as common spaces. Construction is taking place in multiple phases with expected completion by early 2022.
